11 Day Power Play- Community Shift beats previous record!

The staff at Kloss, Stenger, & LoTempio would like to thank everyone who came out to support the 2019 11 Day Power Play! The event was extremely successful and ended up raising 1.6 million dollars for charity, which beats their previous highest amount of 1.2. million!

More Impressive numbers

1.6 million dollars is not the only impressive number from the 11 Day Power Play. There were 164 teams and 2,500 players that participated and took to the ice in the 11 Day Power Play. What’s just as impressive is that each player took to the ice for three hours at a time. Players from all over Western New York came together to play their part in fighting against cancer.

Why is this event so important?

Cancer affects millions of people each year. But cancer doesn’t just affect those afflicted, it also impacts their friends and family. When a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, everyone in their circle is impacted. The 11 Day Power Play helps promote cancer research and raise awareness, thereby helping us fight back against cancer. Buffalo is the City of Good Neighbors, and as good neighbors, we try our best to help out and give back to our community in any way we can.

What is the 11 Day Power Play?

We’ve discussed the 11 Day Power Play in previous blog posts. But some of our readers may have missed it. So we’re going to help explain it again! The 11 Day Power Play from the site goes as follows:

Mike and Amy Lesakowski share many things in life, including a deep love of family, a passion for hockey and, unfortunately, a personal experience with cancer. Amy is a cancer survivor and Mike, is not only organizing the event, but also playing in honor of his mother, Evelyn who passed away from cancer in May 2016 at the age of 62.

Fed up with the hardship caused by this deplorable disease and fueled by their love of hockey, Mike and Amy, along with a very determined group of Buffalo friends, were inspired to take action. So they set a goal to break the record for the world’s longest hockey game while raising money for cancer research. After breaking the record—and raising $1.2 million—they’re just getting started. The organization is committed to raising money, fighting cancer and supporting our community.
