A notice of abandonment is a written notification from the USPTO that an application is no longer pending. If the application was unintentionally abandoned or caused to be abandoned due to USPTO error, the applicant must file within two months from the issue date of the notice of abandonment either:
- a petition to revive the application; or
- a request to reinstate the application.
