Once an examiner determines an applicant is entitled to a patent, a notice of allowance (form PTOL-37) is sent to the applicant’s correspondence address and the patent application is placed in condition for allowance. The notice of allowance will specify the issue fee to be be paid within three months from the date of mailing the notice so as to avoid abandonment of the application.
