An amendment to a patent application is any change to any part of a previously filed application, and is filed pursuant to 37 CFR §1.52. Amendments may be made to correct accidental entry, to answer a USPTO examiner’s office action, to correct excess claims, to abandon a patent application, or to modify either the application’s body or drawings.
