Patent infringement is the unauthorized making, using, offering to sell, selling or importing into a country any patented invention without the patent holder’s permission. Permission is ordinarily granted in the form of a license. In many countries the invention’s use must be commercial (or have a commercial purpose) in order for there to be patent infringement.
